And when my slaves ask you about me, then (say to them that) I am indeed near to them,
I respond to the call of the one who calls, when he calls, (Directly, without any mediator)
so let them obey me and Believe in me, so that they may be led arightSurah Baqarah Verse 186
Last month,, an instagram challenge was making the rounds (as Instagram challenges usually do) and it finally made its way to me when one of my friends tagged me. The challenge was to share your favourite verse in the Quran, A challenge indeed! I believe it is impossible to have a favourite.
What this verse from Surah Baqarah gives to me is COMFORT.
I am comforted but the fact that My Lord tells me that He is near; I don’t have to travel miles and cross the seven seas to find Him and know him. I don’t have to scream and shout for Him to hear me. I don’t even have to say a word…
I am comforted by the fact that My Lord tells me that He will answer my call; I don’t despair nor doubt after I have called on Him.
I am comforted by the fact that My Lord tells me that I do not have to be at my best before I call onto Him; no matter how far I stray, He still wants me to come to Him – directly. I don’t need the goodwill of a ‘saint’ to beg mercy on my behalf.
I am comforted by the fact that My Lord wants me to be close to Him, believe in Him and obey Him.
Now, more than ever, with a lot going on in the world and in my personal life, I am comforted.
I think you’d really enjoy these posts!
