Monday evenings…

Today, I learnt that Brunei is always hot and wet!
Sure you are wondering how that is blog worthy? I met two sisters from Brunei today and while we walked home from our Arabic class together, I learnt a few things about them and where they are from.
Yes!, I enrolled in an Arabic class and if anyone ever told me that going to a class would be the best part of my week, I would have argued. But, as it turns out, Monday evenings ARE the best part of my week here in the city of Leeds. I have always whined about how I have not met anyone with similar interests since I moved here last year September and my husband, God bless his heart, finally found this class and encouraged me to enrol. Thank God I did.

Long story short, the reason I am so excited is that I have been socially starved! and now that I have like-minded people to talk to again, I am over the moon about it.
Okay, maybe I am exaggerating a little bit, but I am glad. It’s my second time in the class and everyone is so nice and warm and friendly. Last week, I met someone nice. She was nice, fun and sweet, but she didn’t come this week. I wonder what happened? But, I didn’t get her phone number last week so I couldn’t find out. I could stalk her over on facebook though!(kidding).
This week, I learnt that the name ‘Tabassum’ meant ‘smile’ in Arabic and Urdu and also that bit about Brunei. Don’t worry, I also learn a bit of Arabic. I am trying to make my attendance more about the widening of my knowledge horizon and not about the socializing; but, the socializing does help a lot!

It just occurred to me that I can’t even remember the names of my ‘walking home friends’- I am HORRIBLE with names! So much for being socially starved right? I mean for someone who has been complaining about having no friends, the least I could do is remember the name of someone who was nice enough to ask for mine.
Next week, Inshallah, I will ask again- to remember it this time!
